Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar Monday issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in nine districts in Odisha today.
The IMD said that isolated heavy rainfall (7mm – 11mm) accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning will occur at some places in Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deoghar, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Balasore districts of the state.
Similarly, a yellow warning for heavy rain has been issued to several districts including Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning on Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall is likely to continue till Independence Day, the weather office said.
Meanwhile, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has warned 10 districts of flood-like situations due to the rising water level in the Mahanadi River. The districts that may be affected include Sambalpur, Sonepur, Nayagarh, Angul, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara.
