Bhubaneswar: As many as 64.62 per cent of the sanctioned MBBS doctor posts in Community Health Centres (CHCs) are lying vacant in Odisha.
While the sanctioned strength of MBBS doctor posts in CHCs including 3750 Leave Training Reserve Medical Officers (LTRMO) is 6,315, at present there are 2234 doctors, informed Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling in reply to a question by BJP MLA from Barchana Amar Kumar Nayak in the Odisha Assembly on Monday.
Out of that, the sanctioned number of specialists is 1532, the Minister said. Currently, there are 405 specialists, he added.
The Minister further informed that while the sanctioned strength of Laboratory Technicians in CHCs is 2581, currently there are 1442 men in position.
Similarly, while the sanctioned strength of Pharmacists in CHCs is 5009, presently there are 2,492 men in position, the Minister added.
Besides, against the sanctioned strength of 1160 Radiographers in CHCs, presently there are 337 men in position, he said.
The Minister further informed that steps are bing taken to fill up vacant doctor posts through selection by Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), departmental promotion, and vacant Specialists posts through doctors who are returning after completing PG/SR and paramedical posts through Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC).
