Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appointed advocate Biraja Shankar Mishra as a new Member of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
According to a notification issued by the Law Department, the Governor of Odisha has made the appointment in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (Act 10 of 1994).
Biraja, son of Narayan Mishra and a resident of Kendujhar district, is a practising advocate. He will assume charge of his office from the date he formally takes over the responsibility. The notification has been signed by the Principal Secretary to the government.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (Act 10 of 1994), the Governor of Odisha is pleased to appoint Sri Biraja Shankar Mishra, Advocate, S/o- Narayan Mishra, Kendujhar to be the Member of Odisha Human Rights Commission with effect from the date he assumes charge of his Office”, read the notification issued by the Law Department of Odisha government.
