Bhubaneswar: An Air India Express flight made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on Thursday after a passenger on board suddenly fell ill mid-flight.
According to Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan, the flight was operating from Bengaluru to Guwahati when one of the passengers reported feeling unwell. Alerted by co-passengers, the cabin crew promptly informed air traffic control and sought permission for an emergency landing in Bhubaneswar.
Emergency arrangements were made at the airport, and the flight landed safely. Medical personnel immediately attended to the ailing passenger upon arrival. After the situation was brought under control, the aircraft resumed its journey to Guwahati.
Airport officials confirmed that all necessary protocols for a medical emergency were followed efficiently and without disruption to airport operations.
