Kirei (Sundaragada): Three armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 2.37 lakh from the Kandabahal branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Sundaragada district at gunpoint on Monday.
According to reports, the three accused arrived at the bank on a motorcycle. One of them allegedly entered the branch carrying a pistol and threatened the employees at gunpoint.
The armed miscreant reportedly intimidated the bank staff and demanded cash. He allegedly collected Rs 2.37 lakh from the bank before fleeing the premises.
The accused then reportedly joined his two accomplices, who were waiting outside on the motorcycle. The trio fled the spot with the looted cash within a few minutes.
The broad-daylight robbery triggered panic among the bank employees and people in the area. Upon being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to identify the accused. Investigators are also analysing the movements of the miscreants and the route they allegedly took while fleeing the spot.
A sniffer dog has also been pressed into service to assist in the investigation and trace clues left behind by the accused.
Police have launched efforts to identify and apprehend the three miscreants.
