Puri: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to initiate repair work of Natamandap (dancing hall) of Shree Jagannath Temple from tomorrow, November 17.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today granted its approval to the ASI to proceed with the repair work.
This decision follows a directive from the Orissa High Court, which directed the ASI to commence repair work at Natamandap on November 16. The case pertained to conservation of the 12th-century shrine.
Chief Administrator of SJTA Ranjan Kumar Das stated that the repair work will be carried out between 6 am and 10 pm to avoid disrupting devotees or rituals.
The Jagannath temple’s technical team will oversee the repair, with the shrine Commander and supervisor managing the crowd.
The ASI plans to use iron scaffolding for the repairs and will coordinate with temple officials for a smooth process.
Additionally, the temple authorities have decided to repair the ‘Ratnapalank’ of Lord Jagannath, with skilled artisans starting the work alongside the Natamandap repairs.
