Bhubaneswar: “Satyabadi is the seat of Odia renaissance and Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya was the center of Odia national consciousness. The Panchashaka of Satyabadi was like a mirror of society. They reflected the principles and ideals of human life through education and were the messengers of intellectual independence of Odisha,” said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi while participating in the Satyabadi Mahotsav 2025 at Sakhigopal on Sunday.
The Chief Minister said that the necessary infrastructure and all basic amenities of this area will be developed based on the heritage and glory of Satyabadi.
He said, “Our government has started an initiative to revive the historic Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, which has illuminated entire Odisha with the light of education. To make the present generation aware of the heritage and tradition of this school, an educational environment will be developed in Bakula Bana to match its original structure. Bakula Bana and Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya will be restored and developed, and turned into a heritage tourism area, he said.
Majhi further said that along with this, the Sakhigopal Temple and its surrounding areas will also be developed.
He added that due to the sacrifices and dedication of the teachers under the supervision of Pandit Gopabandhu, Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya was considered a model educational center in the entire state. This school was designed to strength the character of the students, service-oriented and selfless, so that they considered human service as real service.
Before joining the Satyabadi Mahotsav, the Chief Minister visited the Odia University and inspected its infrastructure. He also interacted with the Vice Chancellor, professors and students of the university.
Highlighting the progress of the Odia University at the Mahotsav, the Chief Minister said that the infrastructure development work of the Odia University established at Satyabadi will be accelerated. It will be made a center of excellence in the field of education and research in Odia language and literature.
The Chief Minister said that it will work as a major center for the propagation of Odia asmita.
Recounting the history of Satyabadi, he said that at the time of the country’s independence, the Panchashaka Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya was not only running this school but also fueling the freedom struggle with the power of their pen. In this forest school, which aims to provide age-old education based on the principles of the ancient Gurukul, the unwavering determination of scholar Gopabandhu, the organisational power of Nilakantha, the ideals and teachings of Godavarish, the deep faith in the heritage and tradition of Krapi Sindhu, and the sagely inspiration and fatherly attitude of Acharya Harihar kept the students engaged and inspired. Satyabadi’s contribution to Odia language literature is also unparalleled. Satyabadhi’s literature was the inspiration and encouragement for the formation of the Odia state.
Puri MP Dr Sambit Patra, Satyabandi MLA Om Prakash Mishra and Pipili MLA Ashrit Patnaik called on everyone to work together towards achieving the goal of building a prosperous Odisha with the development of Satyabadi.
