Puri: A pall of gloom descended on the Rath construction yard after a Bhoi servitor engaged in chariot work died of a heart attack on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Dhoba Bhoi. He was engaged in the construction of Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja Rath.
According to sources, Dhoba complained of chest pain on Tuesday morning. He was first taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri before being shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was, however, declared dead by doctors.
On receiving the news, Puri District Collector visited the Rath Khala, reviewed the situation, and expressed grief over the servitor’s death. The Collector, however, assured that the district administration will extend necessary support to Dhoba’s family.
Meanwhile, the district administration has restarted the land acquisition process at Atharanala in Puri. The Collector said the process will be completed soon, before Rath Yatra, and a four-lane road will be built.
