Bhubaneswar Swelters Under High Humidity Despite Moderate Morning Temperature

Bhubaneswar: Residents of Bhubaneswar woke up to extremely uncomfortable weather conditions as high humidity made the morning feel like midday summer at 5:30am.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded a temperature of 30.6°C at 5:30 am with relative humidity as high as 87%. Due to the combination of temperature and moisture in the air, the feels-like temperature (Heat Index) soared to a scorching 42°C.

This high “feels like” temperature early in the morning indicates that the oppressive humidity is making the weather extremely sticky and uncomfortable for people.

Such conditions are likely to cause discomfort, especially for elderly people, children, and those with respiratory issues. IMD has advised people to stay hydrated and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours as the day progresses.

Similar humid and sultry conditions are expected to continue across several parts of Odisha in the coming days.
