Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested a man from Bihar in connection with the Junior Engineer (Civil) Exam 2023 question paper leak.
The accused has been identified as Raj Mohan Prasad (35), a resident of Samastipur district, Bihar. He was arrested by the Crime Branch and brought to Odisha on transit remand on Sunday.
According to police, 27 people have been arrested so far in the case. The recruitment examination for junior civil engineers, originally scheduled for July 16, 2023, was postponed after the question paper was leaked.
Prasad, along with Vishal Kumar, Bijendra Gupta, and Ajay Kumar, allegedly went to a hotel near Digha, West Bengal, carrying the leaked question papers. About 87 candidates were reportedly expected to collect the papers from the location.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch conducted a raid and arrested several accused. However, Prasad initially escaped and kept changing locations before being finally apprehended.
The investigation is ongoing and police are working to identify all those involved in the scandal.
