Bhubaneswar: The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has brought new hopes to people as remote labourers, economically weaker sections and destitute people of the state can avail of free treatment with the BSKY cards in private super specialty hospitals.

Banambar Das, a resident of Gordajhari village under Nachuni village panchayat in Odisha’s Khurda district, says, “The government gave me a new life through the Biju health card.” I work as a day labourer and have three daughters. I spend my entire earnings on taking care of my daughters. I could not save anything. I had no choice and had given up hope on myself. I could save no money and even when I am sick and in pain, I did not see any ray of hope.”

“I heard from my villagers that I could undergo surgery for free with the BSKY health card. I went to a private hospital in Nachuni with my card. I was tested, checked, and operated for free without costing a single penny,” Das added. He further said that the government gave him a new life and thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and this scheme of the state government as it is benefitting poor people like him.

Banambar Das’ daughter Usha Das said, “We were able to get our father back for the BSKY health card. We are a poor family and didn’t have any way to treat our father. We were out of luck. After hearing from the villagers, we took our father to the Nanda Treatment Hospital in Nachuni and the BSKY health worker helped us. Our father’s surgery went well. We are eternally indebted to the Chief Minister for saving our father’s life.”
