BJD Announces Pramila Mallik As Candidate For Odisha Assembly Speaker

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced Binjharpur MLA and Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallik as its candidate for the post of Speaker of Odisha Assembly.

“I am very happy. I am grateful to the Chief Minister for his trust in me,” said Pramila Mallik in her reaction to reporters on being chosen as the BJD candidate for the Speaker’s post.

Mallik said that by choosing a woman as a candidate for the Speaker’s post the CM has proved the efficiency of women.

“I will run the House in an impartial manner by taking all parties into confidence,” she added.

The election for the post of Speaker will be held on September 22.  While nominations will be filled up on September 21, the election will be held on September 22 at 9:30 AM.
