Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a Booth President of BJP of Mahakalpara block in Kendrapara, was brutally murdered following a verbal altercation.
The deceased has been identified as Tapan Das.
According to reports, the incident occurred late on Tuesday night. Sanjay Mandal, a mason, had gone to the house of labourer Bijan Shah. A heated argument broke out between the two over some issue. To resolve the dispute, Tapan Das reached the spot.
As the quarrel intensified, Bijan Shah fled from the location. However, Sanjay turned his anger on Tapan Das. In a fit of rage, Sanjay allegedly attacked Tapan Das with a wooden plank. Still not satisfied, he picked up a brick lying nearby and smashed it on Tapan’s head.
It has been alleged that after the murder, Sanjay took him to another location and dumped him with the intention of destroying evidence.
Tapan Das suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s wife, Jamboo Marine Police Station Officer Anita Swain arrested the accused Sanjay and seized the motorcycle used by the accused.
Meanwhile, a police team along with the forensic team visited the crime scene and is continuing further investigation.
