Bhubaneswar: BJP leader Irani Ray, who had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly election from Nayagarh in 2019, resigned from the party citing ‘neglect’.
She sent her resignation letter to party State president Manmohan Samal mentioning her dissatisfaction.
“With a heavy heart, I have decided to quit the BJP. This letter may be treated as my formal resignation letter from the primary membership,” her letter read.
Her husband Lala Manoj Ray also quit the saffron camp on Friday.
Irani claimed that she had been neglected in the party for the last few months. She mentioned in her letter that she and her husband were neglected despite working hard for the party for the last five years.
She claimed that she had raised the vote percentage of BJP in Assembly and panchayat election in Nayagarh.
She said that she had brought her grievance to the notice of party president, which was remained unheeded.
Notably, Irani had lost the 2019 Assembly election to BJD’s Arun Sahoo.
