Bhubaneswar: The BJP workers carrying party flags, posters with black bands tied over their mouths today staged satyagraha in all urban areas, in front of block and district headquarters across the State in protest against Chilika MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev ramming his SUV into the crowd in front of Banpur block office on Saturday.
The saffron party has demanded strict action against the BJD suspended MLA.
The party has alleged that Jagadev has been suspended from the BJD for namesake only. The party has further alleged that for Jagadev’s action, Odisha’s image has been tarnished in the country. The party has questioned despite serious allegations against the Chilika MLA, the BJD is yet to expel him from the party.
On the other hand, the BJD has accused the BJP of doing politics over the incident.
“Prasanta Kumar Jagadev is now in the hospital. He is undergoing treatment. The police administration has said that strict action will be taken against him the sooner he gets well. BJP is doing politics over the issue. The party is indulging in unnecessary publicity through the media by taking to the street,” said BJD leader Pramila Mallick.
