Kataka: Unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled bombs near an NHAI camp at Kantapanhara village under the jurisdiction of Banki Police Station in Kataka district on Monday.
Four bombs exploded near the camp, while police recovered five live (unexploded) bombs during a subsequent search operation. No casualties or injuries were reported.
According to police, security guards deployed at the NHAI camp heard four loud explosions and immediately alerted Banki Police Station. Acting on the information, a police team rushed to the spot and found evidence of explosions at four different locations near the camp.
During a search operation in the surrounding area, police recovered five unexploded bombs, which were later secured. A scientific team, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad were pressed into service to examine the scene, collect forensic evidence, and ensure that no other explosives were left behind.
Banki SDPO Balakrushna Kanhar said an FIR had been registered based on a complaint lodged by the NHAI camp authorities.
“The security guards on duty informed the police after hearing four bomb explosions. Our team reached the spot immediately and verified the blast sites. During the search, five unexploded bombs were recovered. A case has been registered at Banki Police Station, and an investigation is underway. The scientific team, bomb squad, and dog squad are examining the spot, and efforts are on to identify those involved,” he said.
