Boudh: In response to the prevailing intense heat wave conditions and a Red Warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Boudh district, the District Collector has ordered the closure of all educational institutions.
According to the official order, all Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), schools, colleges, degree colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Odisha Vidyalayas (OVS), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), and Technical Institutions in the district will remain closed from today to Wednesday ( April 22) until further orders.
However, examinations already scheduled during this period will continue as planned. Institutions may reschedule them to morning hours if required to avoid peak heat. Heads of all institutions have been directed to ensure adequate drinking water facilities and implement necessary heat-wave safety measures for students and staff.
“However, the examinations scheduled during this period shall continue and may be rescheduled in morning hours. The Heads of Institutions must ensure proper provision of drinking water facilities and necessary heat-wave safety measures for students and staff”, read the order issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Boudh.
This decision comes as western and interior districts of Odisha, including Boudh, continue to experience severe heat with maximum temperatures soaring well above 40°C in many areas. The move aligns with similar precautionary closures announced in neighbouring districts like Bolangir and Sonepur to safeguard children from heat-related illnesses.
