Bhubaneswar: A brother-sister reportedly died after being bitten by a snake while they were asleep late last night in Sundaragada district.
The incident took place at Hatioda village under Gurundia block.
The deceased have been identified as Samir Haro (10) and his sister Siren Haro (7). Raghunathpali police seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
According to information, the siblings had dinner with their parents last night and went to sleep on a cot. Around 3 am, Samir complained of severe stomach pain and called out to his father. Shortly afterwards, Siren also reported similar pain.
Both children were first rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and later shifted to the government hospital in Rourkela. However, doctors declared them dead during treatment. Police are investigating the incident.
