Bhubaneswar: The news reporter of a vernacular web channel revealed startling details on the case of cameraman Manas Swain who was allegedly killed by her employer Sarmista Rout.
The news reporter in question is the local Correspondent of the aforementioned web channel, posted at Chandbali in Bhadrak district.
“At around 10 pm a vehicle with ‘PRESS’ marked on it arrived. There were two women, including Sarmista and three men in the car. One of them asked me about the route to the venue of the wedding function where Manas was engaged for shooting,” the reporter said.
“I was present at the spot when they called Manas and threatened him over a memory card,” he said and added that Rout slapped the cameraman following an argument.
“On the direction of Rout, the men in the car abducted him in the car and proceeded towards the highway,” the news reporter added.
Sources said, the information shared by the news reporter, has in a way corroborated the allegations made by Swain’s family, that he was murdered by her employer, Rout.
While three persons have been arrested in this case, the prime accused, Rout still remains at large. The police of three districts have intensified searches to nab her, sources said.
