Bhubaneswar: The Cannes Film Festival is back with all the glitz and glamour associated with the annual celebration of movie-making.
The prestigious film festival 2024 celebrates good films which is obvious. But it’s also become fertile ground for a specific type of European glamour. America does the baseball caps and sunglasses celebrities incognito thing so well. Britain has its self-deprecating acceptance speeches and classic suits. The Internationally-acclaimed filmmaker from Odisha Jitendra Mishra is one of the best-dressed men at the ongoing festival who stole the show.
Filmmaker Mishra who is known for promoting art, culture and cinema from Odisha and India at international forums like this, has once again captivated the audience with his latest appearance at the ongoing 77th edition of the prestigious event.
While menswear looks on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival are typically limited to the classic tuxedo, Mishra has gone above and beyond the bounds of the western dress code.
Stars like Xavier Dolan, Louis Garrel, and Zhou You took to the red carpet sporting elegant looks perfectly befitting the occasion. Dolan and You opted for all-black ensembles to mix up their styles, while Garrel donned a double-breasted suit for a refined take on the classic menswear look. However, Mishra hit the show by appearing in Sambalpuri attire.
While many of our men of the moment also opted to add personal touches to their evening attire through accessories like brooches, pocket squares, scarves, and hats, acclaimed filmmaker Mishra made a mark at the one-of-a-kind international event by appearing in Sambalpuri attire.
It is pertinent to note that Mishra is one of the few Indian film producers and promoters who have been able to create a benchmark in ‘Alternative methods of Film Production, Distribution and Promotion’ at the international level. Committed towards meaningful cinema, Jitendra has already been associated with the production, distribution and promotion of more than 110 films in different categories and various capacities altogether. Many of them have got worldwide acclamation and recognition. I am Kalam, The Last Color, Buried Seeds, Desires of the Heart and Human Oak are few recent films among others.
That’s not all. Mishra has been the festival director of the unique film festival and forum SIFFCY, an initiative of India’s leading development organization Smile Foundation. Currently, Jitendra is the Goodwill Ambassador of one of the world’s largest and oldest global networks of media professionals, CIFEJ, which was formed under the auspices of UNESCO in 1955. He was elected president of the body in 2020. Jitendra has been a member of the Cannes Producers Network and has also been invited as a jury member to more than 50 different international film festivals and forums.
