Bhubaneswar: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two individuals, including a woman, and left another critically injured at Bhanwarpalli in the Kiajhar gram panchayat under Khandapara block of Nayagarh district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Padmacharan Maharana (62) and Draupadi Maharana (62) from Bolagarh in Khordha district.
The injured woman, Milina Maharana, has been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Khandapara for treatment.
According to reports, Padmacharan, Draupadi, and Milina were travelling from Khalisahi to Koska when their car veered off the road and plunged into a roadside nullah near Go Vigyan Kendra at Bhanwarpalli. The impact of the accident was fatal for Padmacharan and Draupadi, who died on the spot.
Fire Service personnel from Khandapara rushed to the scene after being alerted and rescued Milina from the vehicle. She was immediately shifted to the CHC for treatment.
