Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested Deepak Dehury, the accused in the Choudwar confectioner Prasant Kumar Majhi murder case of June 25.
The police have seized the weapon of offence, a knife from accused Dehury. The accused has been forwarded to court.
“On June 25 evening, a youth stabbed another youth with a knife at Birata Bazar under Choudwar police limits. The injured youth succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College & Hospital,” informed ACP Zone I Arun Swain sharing details of the case at a presser here today.
Swain said that the deceased Prasanta Majhi and accused Deepak Dehury used to work as confectioners in two sweet shops.
“The accused used to often tease and abuse the deceased. On June 25 the accused came to the shop where the deceased was working and abused him. The deceased drove him out of the shop after abusing him in foul language. Enraged, the accused bought a knife and stabbed the deceased near the chest when there was a power failure in the area. The deceased was rushed to SCB by his employer where he succumbed while undergoing treatment,” Swain explained.
