Bhubaneswar: A Class X student drowned in the Kushabhadra river in Khordha district on Tuesday while bathing during a picnic with friends.
The deceased has been identified as Soumya Ranjan of Jitikarsuanlo village.
The incident occurred in the Kushabhadra river flowing through Bhingarpur under Balianta police station limits.
As per reportsm Soumya had gone to the riverbank with some friends for a picnic. While bathing in the river, he reportedly drowned. Local residents rescued him about half an hour later and first took him to the Bhingarpur health centre. He was later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors declared him dead.
