Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a Class X student drowned in a pond while he had come to participate in a district-level sports competition.
The deceased has been identified as Arnav Sahu, a Class X student of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya under Balianta block.
The incident occurred near PM Shri Chintamani Vidya Niketan at Naranagarh under Jankia police limits.
According to sources, Arnav had come to Naranagarh along with other students today to participate in the district-level sports meet organized by the district education department at Jankia. However, he reportedly drowned in a pond located near the school. By the time he was rescued after the incident, he had already died.
The family of the deceased has held the education department responsible for the incident.
Upon being informed, Jankia police reached the spot, seized the body and started an investigation into the matter.
However, the exact cause and circumstances leading to the student’s death will be clear after the police inquiry.
