Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the death of Odia labourers in an ammonia gas leak incident at Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.
In a message, the Chief Minister said he was deeply saddened by the incident. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of the workers who lost their lives in the tragedy and wished a speedy recovery for the injured Odia labourers.
Announcing assistance for the victims’ families, CM Majhi declared an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the next of kin of every deceased worker.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government is in constant touch with the Tamil Nadu government to extend help to the affected workers. Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg spoke to her Tamil Nadu counterpart yesterday to ensure proper treatment for the Odia workers and timely delivery of other support measures.
On the Chief Minister’s directions, three senior officers of the Odisha government have reached Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. They are coordinating with local administration and continuing efforts to assist with medical treatment and other arrangements for the injured workers.
