Bhubaneswar: Pensions for April and May have been disbursed to 17,60,435 beneficiaries out of a total 19,22,525 in Odisha, covering about 91.5% of eligible people. The government has also begun the process of releasing June pensions and reiterated its commitment to timely payments, informed Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond today.
According to the Minister, nearly 91.5 per cent of the total beneficiaries have already received two months’ pension directly into their bank accounts.
The Minister also assured that the remaining beneficiaries will get their pending dues once the necessary banking and technical formalities are completed. The government is simultaneously processing the pension payments for June and is making every effort to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their assistance at the earliest.
Notably, the beneficiaries under the scheme include senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups covered under various social security programmes.
This update comes in the wake of reports of delays in pension disbursement caused by technical issues in the payment portal.
