Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today said that government jobs not only provide secure livelihoods but also serve as an effective medium of public service, as he addressed newly appointed officers at the 11th Nijukti Mela (Recruitment Fair) held at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
At the event, appointment letters were distributed to 1,686 candidates across seven departments. The highest recruitments were made in the Health and Family Welfare Department (982), followed by the Water Resources Department (413), Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (34), Skill Development and Technical Education (136), Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (23), Finance (61), and Law (37). This marked the second recruitment fair in the government’s second year in office.
Congratulating the recruits, the Chief Minister urged them to uphold integrity, remain free from corruption, and work with dedication to earn the trust of the people. “Your honesty and commitment will be your greatest assets. Work with the spirit of public service and the blessings of the common people will always be with you,” he said.
Majhi highlighted the government’s focus on employment generation, stating that in the last 15 months, 11 recruitment fairs have provided 30,032 government jobs, with a target to fill 65,000 posts within the first two years. “By June 2026, another 40,000 government jobs will be filled. In total, 1,07,926 employment opportunities have been created in government and private sectors combined,” he noted.
The Chief Minister underscored that recruitment processes under his government have been transparent and merit-based. “No allegations of corruption have surfaced in any of the examinations conducted. Even the slightest hint of irregularity is dealt with strictly. Our aim is to ensure a level playing field for all candidates,” he added.
During the ceremony, Majhi personally handed appointment letters to 30 new recruits. Among them, Shibani Sarangi of Sambalpur, selected in the Agriculture Department, and Biswajit Pradhan of Cuttack, appointed in the Finance Department, expressed gratitude for the fair and impartial selection process.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo reaffirmed the government’s promise of providing 1.5 lakh jobs in five years, saying, “Over 30,000 appointments have already been made. We will ensure that all vacant posts are filled within this term.”
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, who also holds the Electronics and IT portfolio, welcomed the appointees and stressed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services through timely recruitments. The event was attended by Law, Excise and Public Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, and Development Commissioner Anu Garg, among others.
