Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the first World Odia Language Conference at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said, Language is the crown of the nation and the great mantra of unity. Today is the glorious day. The entire Odisha has come together for the language. More use of Odia language is always discussed. We must know the history of our language, paving the way for the future, Patnaik said.
“Odia is classical language having a rich historical significance. We will work together for the betterment of this language. The government will accept the resolution proposed in this conference,” he said.
Hundreds of writers and literary stars from across the country and abroad participated in the event. Moreover, many eminent linguists of international level also attended the programme.
Culture Minister Ashwini Patra, eminent literature Sitakant Mahapatra and Pratibha Ray were present on the stage.
Culture Secretary Sujata Kartikeyan delivered the welcome address.
The conference which will continue for three days, will have 16 sessions and a special session on Jagannath consciousness.
