Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited the goshala (cow shelter) run by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Jamukoli area of Jatni and took stock of the arrangements made there.
Patnaik advised the staff to take proper care of the cows at the goshala. He took stock of the various arrangements for the cows at the goshala, the feed being given and also fed fruits and vegetables to the cows.
On seeing a newborn calf, the Chief Minister inquired about its name. And on coming to know that it has not been given a name, he named it Krishna.
It is pertinent to mention here that in 2018 BMC has established a goshala at Jamukoli on a 5.5 acre piece of land. There is a proposal to expand it to 20.5 acre. Currently, there are 906 cows in the goshala. Mostly stray cattle moving around in the city streets are kept here.
Secretary to CM(5T) VK Pandian also visited the goshala.
BMC Mayor, MLA Bhubaneswar (North), former MLA and BMC Commissioner among others were present at the goshala during the Chief Minister’s visit.
