Bhubaneswar: The mercury dropped further in several places in Odisha intensifying the cold wave sweeping the state. According to the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, the minimum temperatures (night-time temperatures) dropped below 10°C in nine places in the state during the last 24 hours.
While G Udayagiri was the coldest in the state recording a minimum temperature of 6.4°C, other places where the night-time temperature was below 10°C include Sundargarh (7.4°C), Kirei (7.8°C), Phulbani (8.5°C), Daringbadi (8.5°C), Angul (9°C), Keonjhar (9°C), Rourkela (9.4°C) and Jharsuguda (10°C).
The minimum temperature in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was recorded at 15.1°C and 14.5°C, respectively.
The IMD has forecast that the cold wave is likely to continue in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, and Angul for another two days thereafter there will be a 2°C -3°C rise in night temperature.
The weather office further said that dense fog occurred on Sunday morning in several places in Odisha, including Angul. Shallow to moderate fog occurred in Bhawanipatna, Baripada, and Keonjhar.
