Bhubaneswar: After a brief respite, bone-chilling cold wave conditions are likely to return to Odisha, with temperatures expected to drop further due to a high-pressure area in central India.
Weather scientist Uma Shankar Dash stated that cold and dry air flow from the north and northwest is intensifying, reducing water vapour and increasing cold weather severity.
The withdrawal of the active West disturbance over Pakistan and Afghanistan has led to unobstructed flow of cold air, bringing back cold wave conditions.
Coastal Odisha temperatures have dropped significantly, with readings at 5:30 am showing–
– Jharsuguda: 9.4°C (-2.2)
– Kendujhar: 11.6°C (-3.4)
– Bhubaneswar: 13.4°C (-3.6)
– Baleswar: 14°C (-3)
– Chandbali: 14.8°C (-1.4)
– Paradweep: 15°C (-1.6)
Dash predicts cold weather will set in again after daybreak, with temperatures likely to drop further.
