Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Friday held a meeting at the DCP’s office here to review its preparedness for proper implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in view of the upcoming General Elections 2024.
As many as 722 polling booths of a total of 07 Assembly Constituencies fall under the jurisdiction of Cuttack Urban Police District (UPD). Out of these, 125 booths have been declared sensitive.
The review meeting chaired by Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda was attended by Cuttack DCP KV Singh, ACPs of all zones and IICs of all police stations in the Cuttack UPD.
Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda has informed that the police force of the Commissionerate Police will be deployed along with the CAPF.
Panda said that as of date license holders have deposited a total of 297 guns.
Panda added that total cash amounting to Rs 2 lakh has been seized in the last three months.
He said that liquor worth Rs 30 lakh, 178 kg ganja and 566 gm brown sugar have been seized.
The Police Commissioner has informed that while 63 individuals have been arrested under section 10 of the CrPC, action has been taken against 1332 persons under section 107 of the CrPC.
A total of 283 Non Bailable Warrants (NBWs) have been executed while 220 NBWs have been returned, the Police Commissioner said. All police stations have been directed to display the list of NBWs in their notice boards and upload it to the website, he added.
Panda further informed that in the last three months, 10 guns have been seized.
He said that ACPs would take a call on who will be externed (tadipar) and then action will be taken.
