Bhubaneswar: With an estimated crowd of nearly 50,000 expected to welcome Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on his arrival in Bhubaneswar after receiving the prestigious Capital Foundation Life Time Achievement Award, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements for the grand show as well as ensure that citizens are not inconvenienced.
“CM will be arriving here in Bhubaneswar after receiving Life Time Achievement Award and to welcome him around 50,000 people are expected at the airport from different districts, we have made detail arrangements for the purpose,” informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh addressing a presser here today.
Singh said that route lining arrangements have been made for all routes through which people will come and policemen will be deployed at all important chowks to direct the vehicles and traffic.
Parking places have been identified and earmarked for buses and other vehicles for people coming from different districts, he added.
The DCP said that arrangements have been made for the people who would be returning after the event.
Singh said that arrangements have been also made so that passengers going to the airport to catch flights are not inconvenienced.
“We have also asked all airlines to ask their passengers tomorrow to try to arrive at the airport minimum of three hours before since there will be heavy crowding. It will be better if passengers reach a little early. On our part we have made arrangements that their passage is smooth and also there is no problem for passage of ambulance and other essential services,” the DCP said.
Also, arrangements have been made for pedestrians, he added.
He said that security arrangements have been tightened so that there is no lapse since a lot of people will be coming from villages.
“The programme will be for around one hour. During the programme 8 ADCPs, 16 ACP rank officers, around 25 Inspectors, Traffic ACP, Traffic Staff, 90 Sub Inspector and Asst Sub Inspector combined, and 30 platoon force will be deployed to keep a watch over the total arrangement. Already putting up of barricades has started, traffic diversion plans have been worked out,” the DCP further informed.
He said three places have been designated for the parking of vehicles for the people coming to attend the event.
“A ground behind Capital Hospital in Unit-VI, a ground near Chilika Development Authority in Palashpalli area for vehicles coming from Khordha and an area between Sishu Bhawan Chowk to Capital Hospital for vehicles coming Puri side,” he elaborated.
