Bhubaneswar: A 27-year-old constable serving in the Nayagarh Reserve Police Barrack allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle at the barracks.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil Sethy, a resident of Beruabari village under Nuagaon block in Nayagarh district.

Reports suggest that Sunil was engaged and was set to get married in a few days. The constable, unable to cope with the pressure of not getting leave, reportedly took this drastic step.

Upon receiving the news, Nayagarh Town police and the Forensic team arrived at the scene and began an investigation.

The reason behind the suicide are unclear, but it’s speculated that unavailability of leave might be a factor. Further investigation is needed to determine the exact cause.
