Bhubaneswar: A team of Vigilance officials today apprehended An Assistant sub-inspector of Police for accepting bribe from a person in Nabarangpur district.
The cop identified as Simanchal Moharana of Dabugaon Police station in Nabarangpur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5000 from a Complainant for showing leniency and to help in a case registered against him earlier in Dabugaon police station
On seeing the Vigilance Officials, Moharana threw the entire bribe money in the PS Malkhana and the same has been recovered and seized from PS Malkhana. Both hands wash of Moharana gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe money by him.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Moharana, ASI from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance registered a case under section 7 P.C Amendment Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against accused Moharana,.
