Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in Bayahatu village, located near Champua in Keonjhar district, where a couple died due to a snake bite. Nani Jarai and his wife, Kabita Jarai, died after being bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping in their home on Wednesday night.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when family members found the couple unresponsive and rushed them to the Champua Sub-Divisional Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors declared them brought dead.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the village. Snake bite is a growing concern in the region, particularly during the monsoon season when snakes often enter homes seeking warmth or shelter. Villagers have urged the administration to ensure the availability of anti-venom treatments at remote health centres
