Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a couple died of suspected snakebite in Madhupur village under Pirhat police station in Bhadrak district.
According to information, the wife suddenly fell seriously ill on September 3. She was rushed to hospital where doctors declared her dead.
On Thursday, her husband was bitten by a snake while he was in a bamboo forest near the village. He was admitted to hospital but later succumbed.
After the husband’s death, family members suspected that the wife had also died of snakebite as she had shown similar symptoms. Following this, the woman’s body was exhumed for post-mortem.
The post-mortem is underway at the hospital. The exact cause of death will be clear after the report comes, police said.
