Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab Sworn In As Pro-Tem Speaker of Lok Sabha

Bhubaneswar: Senior parliamentarian and seven-term Member of Parliament from Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency, Bhartruhari Mahtab was sworn in as pro-tem Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha on Monday.

At the Rastrapati Bhavan, Mahtab was administered an oath of office by President Draupadi Murmu.

Mahtab has been continuing as the Member of Parliament from the Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency, since 1998.

He was honoured with the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 2017.

He also received four Sansad Ratna awards conferred in the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, for his remarkable performance in in-house debates.

The veteran parliamentarian is the son of Dr Harekrushna Mahtab, the first Chief Minister of Odisha.
