Cuttack: The special team of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police that has moved to Gaya in Bihar for further investigation in the spurious drugs sale case here has identified the prime accused persons.
Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said that there have been important developments in the case and it is under investigation. The special team of Commissionerate Police is conducting raids at various places with the help of Gaya Police.
The accused persons have been identified but more probe is underway. Efforts are underway to find out the sources from where the drugs were procured. Further probe depends on the findings.
It is pertinent to mention that huge stock of spurious medicines – Telma AM and Telma-40 – used to treat high blood pressure and chronic cardiovascular diseases had been seized in Cuttack by the Directorate of Drugs Control (DDC).
Based on a complaint in this regard, the Purighat Police arrested two pharmaceutical distributors Rahul Kumar Kyal (27) and Sanjaya Kumar Jalan (52) in connection with the sale of spurious drugs.
Odisha’s Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Nikunja Bihari Dhal has also written a letter to his counterpart in the Government of Bihar, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit to extend cooperation in the investigation.
