Cuttack: In a gruesome incident, miscreants allegedly thrashed a youth to death in Cuttack on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sumanta Sahu, a resident of Gobindpur village under Banki police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district.
According to reports, around 11 attackers armed with sticks and other weapons intercepted Sumanta while he was returning from a Makar fair at Bada Bandiani Thakurani temple in Tigiria last night. They ambushed him and thrashed him brutally.
After the attack, the miscreants left a profusely bleeding Sumanta on the roadside. After some passers-by informed about the incident, Sumanta’s mother and sister rushed him to SCB Medical College where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
Sumanta’s mother, Susama Sahu, has filed a formal complaint at the Banki police station regarding the incident. The Banki police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. So far, the police have detained six of the 11 individuals accused of attacking Sumanta and are interrogating them.
