Decomposed Body Of Retired Police Personnel Found From Nayagarh Forest; Kin Cry Murder

Bhubaneswar: The body of a retired police personnel was recovered from Banamalipur forest under Fategarh police limits in Nayagarh district on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Somnath Patnaik of Badasahra Panchayat under Bhapur block in Nayagarh district.

Somnath went missing for last six days. Family members said, Somnath had gone on a bicycle to a LPG filling station in Khandpada on Wednesday morning. After some time, he spoke to his family members over phone that a miscreant stole his bag along with the bicycle. A few minutes later, his mobile phone was switched off.

The family members and the villagers searched for him, but failed to trace him. Later, Somnath’s wife filed a complaint at Fategarh police station.

Local residents, however, found the decomposed body of Somanth and informed his family.

His relatives identified the body and lodged a complaint alleging murder.

Police along with a scientific team rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.

The reason of his death remains unclear. Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
