Bhubaneswar: A depression formed over the Bangladesh coast has intensified and moved west-northwestwards, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to the region.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep depression lies centred over Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, approximately 90 km northeast of Canning and 100 km east-northeast of Kolkata.
As per IMD’s latest data, the system has been moving at 23 kmph over the past six hours and is expected to continue its west-northwestward trajectory, maintaining its intensity until this evening. Thereafter, it will likely weaken into a depression as it moves across Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand over the next 48 hours.
The IMD is closely monitoring the situation through the Doppler Weather Radar at Kolkata, ensuring timely updates and warnings to affected areas. Residents in the region are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
