Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over the westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and lay close to the north Andhra Pradesh coast on Wednesday evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the IMD’s National Bulletin No. 11 issued at 1730 hours IST, the system was centred near latitude 18.1°N and longitude 84.0°E, about 30 km south-southwest of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, 90 km east-northeast of Visakhapatnam and 160 km southwest of Gopalpur in Odisha.
The deep depression moved west-northwestwards at a speed of around 7 kmph during the preceding six hours.
The weather system is likely to maintain its west-northwestward movement and cross the north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur during the next three to four hours, the IMD said.
The system is expected to cross the coast close to the southwest of Kalingapatnam.
