Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for dense fog and light rain in several districts of Odisha during the next two days. According to the IMD, the presence of excessive moisture in the atmosphere is aiding the fog situation in the state.
Meanwhile, dense fog occurred in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, and other cities in the state on Monday morning reducing visibility significantly. Vehicular traffic was heavily disrupted due to the dense fog.
The IMD has alerted that dense fog is very likely to occur in one or two places over the coastal areas and Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. The Special Relief Commissioner has warned the District Collectors of the affected districts as the visibility will be reduced alarmingly in those areas.
From February 6, there will be a slight change in the weather and there may be light rain in north Odisha. The Regional Meteorological Center has also informed that light rain is likely to occur over the interior, coastal, south coastal, and south Odisha till February 11.

Day 2 (Valid from 8:30 am on Feb 6 to 8:30 am on Feb 7)
Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
Day 3 (Valid from 8:30 am on Feb 7 to 8:30 am on Feb 8)
Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
Day 4 (Valid from 8:30 am on Feb 8 to 8:30 am on Feb 9)
Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, Rayagada, and Kandhamal, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha.
