Bhubaneswar: A cold wave is gripping Odisha, with the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre issuing a warning of dense fog in the state.
According to the meteorological centre’s bulletin, the minimum temperature is expected to increase by 2 to 4 degrees in many districts over the next three days, providing temporary relief from the cold conditions.
However, the respite is short-lived, as the minimum temperature is predicted to decrease by 2 to 3 degrees after three days, indicating a return to colder weather. This could disrupt normal life in the state.
In addition to the cold wave, dense fog is expected to blanket several districts in Odisha from January 11 to 14. The districts likely to be affected by dense fog include Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, and Koraput.
Light to moderate fog is also expected in several other districts, including Jharsuguda, Puri, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara.
The state has been experiencing severe winter for the past few days, disrupting normal life. However, the winter chill has been accompanied by thick fog, which has reduced visibility in many districts, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
