Puri: Thousands of devotees thronged the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Thursday to mark the sacred occasion of Guru Purnima, seeking blessings from Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
The temple premises resonated with chants, prayers, and an atmosphere of devotion as pilgrims from across Odisha and beyond offered their respects, not just to the divine trinity but also in reverence to their spiritual mentors on this special day.
This year’s Guru Purnima held added significance as it coincided with the first ceremonial public darshan of the deities seated on the Ratna Singhasan (bejewelled throne) following the grand conclusion of the annual Rath Yatra festival. The deities had recently returned to the sanctum after the Bahuda Yatra and Niladri Bije rituals.
The sight of the deities in their majestic post-Rath Yatra form left devotees emotional and overwhelmed.
Temple authorities managed the influx with efficient crowd-control measures, ensuring a smooth and spiritually uplifting experience for all.
