Bhubaneswar: The district administration has officially notified that the correct spelling of the steel city will henceforth be ‘Raurkela’ in all official correspondence and records.
In a notification issued on July 21, 2026, the Office of the Additional District Magistrate, Raurkela, stated that the name shall be written as ‘Raurkela’ in all official documents, letters, reports, notifications, signages, and other communications.
The order has been issued in reference to a notification by the Revenue & Disaster Management Department and a subsequent letter dated July 20, 2026.
The notification has been circulated to all departments in Raurkela for strict compliance and wide publicity.
