Bhubaneswar: In a significant achievement for advanced healthcare in Odisha, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar has successfully completed 1000 robotic-assisted knee replacement surgeries, marking a major milestone in precision-driven orthopaedic care in Eastern India.

The landmark achievement was led by Dr. Sunil Kumar Dash, Senior Consultant and Director – Orthopaedics, Hospital Bhubaneswar whose expertise in robotic-assisted procedures has helped transform treatment outcomes for patients suffering from severe arthritis and chronic knee ailments.

Robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery uses advanced technology for precise surgical planning tailored to each patient’s anatomy. The technique enables improved implant alignment and greater surgical accuracy, while also helping reduce pain, speed up recovery, and improve mobility after surgery.

According to the hospital, the robotic knee replacement programme has recorded a success rate of more than 99 per cent. The growing adoption of bilateral knee replacement procedures has further highlighted the confidence patients place in the technology and the orthopedic team’s expertise.

Speaking on the milestone, Dr. Sunil Kumar Dash said completing 1000 robotic knee replacement surgeries was a proud achievement for the entire orthopaedic team.

“Robotic-assisted technology allows us to achieve greater precision and personalized surgical planning, which ultimately benefits patients through better functional outcomes and faster recovery. This achievement reflects the immense trust patients have placed in us over the years, and we remain committed to delivering advanced orthopedic care with compassion and excellence,” he said.

The achievement also reinforces Bhubaneswar’s emergence as a centre for advanced healthcare services in Eastern India. Patients from Odisha as well as neighbouring states including Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal are increasingly choosing the hospital for robotic orthopaedic procedures supported by modern surgical systems and rehabilitation care.

Congratulating the orthopaedic team, Dr. Saktimaya Mohapatra, Cluster Director (South East), Manipal Hospitals said the milestone reflected the hospital’s commitment to bringing world-class healthcare technology closer to people in Odisha.

“This achievement represents the clinical excellence, dedication and trust that define our healthcare services. We congratulate Dr. Sunil Dash and the entire orthopedic team for this remarkable accomplishment,” he said.

With advanced robotic systems, experienced specialists and comprehensive rehabilitation support, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for advanced orthopaedic care, helping patients regain mobility and return to active lifestyles with greater confidence.
