Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo today chaired a high-level review meeting via video conference at Krushi Bhavan to assess agricultural preparedness across districts ahead of the low-pressure system forming over the East Central and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Vice-Chancellor, OUAT, Director, Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar and senior officials of DA&FE.
With heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast across Odisha between October 27 and 29, field officials including all CDAOs, DDHs and Watershed Project Directors have been instructed to closely monitor developments on the ground, issue proactive advisories and take prompt, coordinated measures to protect standing crops and safeguard interests of farmers.
