New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Thursday met Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi in New Delhi during her participation in the two-day Departmental Summit of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD).
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Odisha’s Women and Child Development Department, Mrinalini Darswal, is also attending the summit being held on October 8 and 9.
The meeting and summit focus on strengthening Centre-State coordination in areas including nutrition, child protection, women’s safety and empowerment, and improving implementation of key welfare programmes.
The deliberations are centred on four themes — transforming Anganwadi Centres to improve nutrition and early childhood education, strengthening child protection mechanisms, ensuring women’s safety through effective institutional and legal frameworks, and enhancing the impact of women-centric empowerment initiatives.
Parida’s participation provides Odisha an opportunity to present its experiences and innovations in the sector and learn from successful practices adopted by other states and Union Territories.
The summit is expected to conclude with a time-bound action plan assigning specific responsibilities, timelines and monitoring mechanisms to improve service delivery and promote the overall well-being, safety and empowerment of women and children.
